The Tap Water is.. Poisoning Us?!

February 9, 2024 (1y ago)

I’ve got your attention for 4-7 minutes so let’s make it worth it.

There's long been a label attached to those who talk about water or fluoride. Today I suggest you remove your label maker, and forget the tin foil hat mantra.

There's ample science that shows drinking tap water is not good for you and your health.

⚠️

You can go way deeper to prove these claims with talks from Andrew Huberman along with dozens of other scientists far smarter than I. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Water is crucial to our biological makeup, happiness, and health. The unfortunate reality is that many governments, whether at the city, state, or federal level are pushing water that isn't good for you. Is there something that's going on that's deeper? Let's dive into this.

"The science is clear. These chemicals in the water are shockingly toxic at extremely low doses,” says Erik Olsen of the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC). “Get this stuff out of our drinking water.”

Here’s what you get in exchange for a few minutes of your valuable attention:

  • 1st: Alarming stats on water.
  • 2nd: A way to check your cities water.
  • 3rd: Deeper thoughts on water.
  • 4th: Brands to avoid, and brands to buy.
  • 5th: Bonus round: craziness with water.

Water Affects our Chemical Makeup

My family has a history of health issues. I’m the son of two cancer survivors, and also have my own condition called pectus. A vast majority of both women and men on my mom’s side of the family were taken away prematurely by cancer. The only commonality and reason doctors came up with was the water quality from a dairy farm everyone grew up on.

Moms letter about the water

Isn't that insane?

Lesser Known Benefits of Drinking High Quality Water

Carries nutrients and oxygen to your cells

Flushes bacteria from your bladder

Aids with digestion

Prevents constipation

Cushions joints

Protects organs and tissues

Regulates body temperature

Maintains electrolyte (sodium) balance.

So whats up with the water? Why should I care?

  • Americans drink over 1 billion glasses of tap water each day.

  • It is a common belief that you have to drink 6-8 glasses of water per day, but this myth comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of some basic physiology. McGill study disproving

  • In the past 12 years, drinking water used by 49 million residents of the United States has been contaminated with bacteria, radioactive materials, and arsenic in levels that are both illegal and incredibly unsafe.

  • On June 15th, 2022, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued an unprecedented and stunning health advisory that affects millions of Americans from coast to coast: Two notorious chemicals commonly detected in public drinking water supplies, PFOA and PFOS, are far more toxic than previously thought and can pose serious human health risks, including cancer, infertility, low birthweight, thyroid issues, and more, even at undetectable, “near zero” levels.

  • In 2016, a Harvard study found PFASs, another very harmful chemical substance, in water from 33 of the 50 states, and determined that over six million United States residents were affected by these contaminated water supplies.

  • Prescription medications have also been found in the tap water of 41,000,000 American homes.

  • According to the Associated Press, there is a vast array of pharmaceuticals including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers, and sex hormones in the municipal water supplies

“At least 45% of the nation’s tap water is estimated to have one or more types of the chemicals known as per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, or PFAS, according to a new study by the U.S. Geological Survey. There are more than 12,000 types of PFAS, not all of which can be detected with current tests; the USGS study tested for the presence of 32 types”

PFAS - The Forever Chemical.

There's nearly infinite negative research on a chemical compound by the name of PFAS. I've linked a video you can check out to get more detail. The bottom line is it's linked to awful sickness, and is in the water.

I highly suggest getting some data on your local water.

Here’s my cities water in West Palm Beach, FL.

Arsenic! You read that right.

And it turns out that the fluoride we put in all of our water (on purpose) isn't all that great for us either!

There is even a Harvard Study disproving the effectiveness of fluoride on the health of your teeth.

So we know its bad for us. CNN and Mainstream media even put that message out.. and yet we get conflicting messages from our local and federal governments.

OK The Waters is Poison, Now What

💡

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is an American activist group that specializes in research and advocacy in the areas of agricultural subsidies, toxic chemicals, drinking water pollutants, and corporate accountability.

  • For example our city of West Palm Beach has 147x the EWG’s health guideline of what is considered a safe amount of arsenic.
  • Ponder the long term effects of drinking water toxins every day
  • Buy better water! (Ideally Mountain Valley or some type of Spring water)

Water Brands to Buy

  1. Mountain Valley: This spring water from Arkansas is highly rated for its quality2.
  2. Aqua Carpatica: Another top-rated brand, although specific details about its source and quality were not provided in the search results2.
  3. Voss: Another popular brand, with no specific details about its source and quality provided in the search results3.

Brands to Avoid

  1. Aquafina
  • The study included companies such as Aquafina and Evian, with Nestle Pure Life having one of the highest levels of contamination. Their research also showed bottled water contained about 50% more microplastics than tap water. Most bottled water is sold in plastic #1, also known as polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
  1. Anything in plastic.

A new study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reads: “Bottled water is up to a hundred times worse than previously thought when it comes to the number of tiny plastic bits it contains”

My Water Journey

Water journey??? Yeah let's call it that. I hadn't done any research on water and frankly didn't think twice about it.

At the first startup I worked at we bought Mountain Valley water. It did always taste better, which meant I'd drink more of it.

It took my fiance and I going to Mexico last summer to realize I needed to change up the water situation.

West Palm Beach Water contaminants

We spent 10 days drinking spring water. Yes that's right we drank water in Mexico - the place everyone says you'll get sick. We drank it from a reverse osmosis filter.

The journey back to drinking water in the States was.... less than ideal.

A true test of the structural integrity of your homes plumbing system.

After that my fiance and I went all in on Mountain Valley Spring Water. We get 20 gallons delivered every 2 weeks.

We use it to cook, we use it for coffee.. We use it for everything.

If You're Dehydrated....

Easy ways to drink more water

  1. Get a 12 pack of 32 oz mason jars.
  2. Drink a few a day.
  3. Write it on your to do list.
  4. Do not drink water 3 hours before bed so you can empty your bladder before bed.

The SUPER Controversial Frog Study that Politicized Water

⚠️

Separate political opinions from science. Before you cringe and think, “this health app company is a group of crazy right wing conspiracy theorists” I’ll gently remind you that I’m simply linking studies. These are scientific studies. These are studies completed by studied biologists and scientists.

A chemical called Atrazine is best known for its use as an herbicide. It's the second most widely used herbicide in the U.S.. and one of the most common contaminants of drinking water.

US Map about Atrazine

National Academies of Sciences, biologist Tyrone Hayes of the University of California, Berkeley, and his colleagues exposed 40 African clawed frogs (Xenopus laevis) to 2.5 parts per billion (ppb) of atrazine in a water solution continuously for three years—a level below the three ppb allowed in drinking water by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

As a result, 30 of the frogs were chemically castrated.

4 of the frogs became female.

Unfortunately, these studies have been promoted by very controversial names, which then lead to people labeling it as crazy. Names like Alex Jones, R.F.K. Junior and Tucker Carlson associating themselves with scientific research around a study that was done, period. In this study they gave 40 male frogs the same water that has an herbicide that's dumped on all of the foods we eat.

30 of the frogs became chemically castrated, 4 became females. Now of course this is an extreme case but it's definitely something that the masses should be aware of.

Fluoride Was Popularized by.... the NAZI'S? WHAT?'

"In the 1930's, Hitler and the German NAZIs envisioned a world to be dominated and controlled by a NAZI philosophy of pan-Germanism. The German chemists worked out a very ingenious and far-reaching plan of mass-control which was submitted to and adopted by the German General Staff. This plan was to control the population in any given area through mass medication of drinking water supplies. By this method they could control the population in whole areas, reduce population by water medication that would produce sterility in women, and so on. In this scheme of mass-control, sodium fluoride occupied a prominent place.

"Repeated doses of infinitesimal amounts of fluoride will in time reduce an individual's power to resist domination, by slowly poisoning and narcotizing a certain area of the brain, thus making him submissive to the will of those who wish to govern him.

"The real reason behind water fluoridation is not to benefit children's teeth. If this were the real reason there are many ways in which it could be done that are much easier, cheaper, and far more effective. The real purpose behind water fluoridation is to reduce the resistance of the masses to domination and control and loss of liberty. I was told of this entire scheme by a German chemist who was an official of the great I.G. Farben chemical industries and was also prominent in the NAZI movement at the time. I say this with all the earnestness and sincerity of a scientist who has spent nearly 20 years research into the chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and pathology of fluorine."

7 Most Common Contaminants in our Tap Water

ContaminantDescription
Pharmaceutical drugsTo prevent dental problems, the U.S. government has mandated that fluoride is added to the water supply for about 50 years now. However, the current study has shown that fluoride, a chemical used in rat poison, does a lot more harm than good. This substance is considered a class 4 hazardous waste produced by the EPA, and it is illegal to dump anywhere in the environment. The cities all over North America have been banning the chemical over the last few years, and it is expected to continue. In fact, the fluoride found in tap water has actually been shown to damage tooth enamel. It can increase fracture risk, as well as suppress immune and thyroid function. Also, it increases cancer risk and disrupts the function of the pineal gland.
ChlorineChlorine is used in water treatment facilities as a disinfectant proven to kill bacteria, but it has toxic effects on the human body. It has been identified as the leading cause of cancer of the bladder, associated with breast and rectal cancers, asthma, premature aging of the skin, and congenital disabilities. It is not only common in tap water but as well as treating swimming pools. The problem with this substance is that it does not know when to stop killing organisms, which evidently leads to toxic effects on the human body.
Hexavalent chromiumAt present, an Environmental Working Group (EWG) report shared that hexavalent chromium, a chemical identified that is probably considered as a “carcinogen” by the EPA, is present in high concentrations in 31 U.S. cities. Despite its known toxicity, there are no government regulations for hexavalent chromium in drinking water.
Radioactive ContaminantsDuring the Fukushima nuclear accident, radioactive fallout from Japan has been detected in drinking water supplies throughout the U.S., and radioactive iodine-131 was detected in drinking water samples from 13 U.S. cities. Radioactive cesium and tellurium isotopes have been detected at low levels. However, the health implications of this radioactive contamination are not known yet, and there are still widespread hazardous impacts on human health.
ArsenicArsenic is odorless, tasteless, and a poisonous element well-known to be extremely carcinogenic. It can enter drinking water supplies from natural deposits in the earth or agricultural and industrial practices. As many as 56 million Americans are estimated to have drink water containing unsafe levels of arsenic. The base from the Natural Resources Defense Council can greatly increase the rate of cancer of the bladder, lungs, nasal passages, skin, kidney, liver, and prostate.
Lead, Aluminum, and Other Heavy MetalsLead is a toxic metal that can be harmful to human health even at low exposure levels, and it is persistent, and bioaccumulation may occur in the body over time. Particularly vulnerable to lead are young children, infants, and fetuses because the behavioral and physical impacts of lead occur at lower exposure levels in children. Exposure to lead has been linked to damage to the central and peripheral nervous system, impaired hearing, and impaired formation and function of blood cells, usually in children.

Call Me Out If Something is Wrong

Full transparency: I recognize that some of these topics may seem outlandish or over the top.

I research and write about this as a way to expose the madness going on in our world.

A basic necessity of life should not be this complicated.

In order to be happy and healthy we can't be slowly poisoning ourselves every day.

We must strive to be better.
